It’s time for an all-new hot hatch drag race!
First up we’ve got Mat in the new Volkswagen Golf GTI. With a 2-litre turbocharged petrol engine under the bonnet, it can produce 245hp and 370Nm. On the other side of the track, we have the Octavia vRS. Given it’s also a VW Group car, it’s got the same powertrain as the GTI, which means it’s also got a 2-litre turbo petrol, which also produces 245hp & 370Nm!
In-between the VW Groups we have the Ford Focus ST… And on the face of it, you it looks like the favourite! With a 2.3-litre turbo engine, it can put down 280hp and 420Nm of torque!
But as we’ve seen before in previous carwow drag races, the bigger number isn’t always the best! So what do you think – will the all-new GTI have what it takes to snatch the win? There’s only one way to find out… LET’S RACE!

HAHA……Those results are so funny and I always wondered why Carwow hardly had the ST on any drag race videos………You have been waiting for the GTI to make your sponsors look good.
If anyone watches a real driver in all of these cars you will see which one is CLEARLY the quickest car…..Standing start and in gear……..Also shows the manual ST is quicker than both these autos.

I can asure that GTi is not much if any more than claimed, your in cuckoo lsnd if you believe that. . You cannot go by that nonsical test. The ST driver slowed down massively after taking the lead, just use yoyr eyes! probably because he thought he saw birds as he admitted later. the manual ST has posted 13.9 second 1/4s elswhere and in all offical figures is faster than the manual and dsg GTi. Its a far better drive too. Forvwhatever reason carwow have fixed that result

Seemed like the Ford had big surges of power that would just rocket it ahead and then go completely sluggish. Esp in the 2nd race.

Should of stuck a BMW i3s in on that race would most likely smash them off the line only to be court when it reached v max @ 99 mph.
The Ford looks nice with the red brake calipers matching the paint. The Volkswagen is ugly and those wheels look like they belong on an electric car.
