Thinking about switching to an electric car? Then you do NOT want to miss this video!
We’ve brought together six of the newest small electric cars to see just how true their claimed range is. We’re starting off in London, and we’re going to head north to find out just how far each of them will go, while also finding out just what happens when they run out of juice! Joining us for this video we have:
Honda e
Peugeot e-208
Volkswagen e-Up!
Vauxhall Corsa-e
MINI Electric
Renault Zoe
But which of them do you think will travel the furthest? And do you think any of them will hit 100% of their claimed range? There’s only one way to find… Sit back, relax, and join us for this all-new electric car range test!

honda looks dope
Electric cars are way too expensive for most of us note why dont these cars have a solar panel option to trickle charge as you drive park up ?
what is this burn like thing behind the steering wheel on 18:24 ?
You should Thank your luck thats you are not in Sweden! I swear the swedish here will leave you without help until you help yourself!!!!
When winning looks like begging power off some old racist then it's a game I don't want to play.
6:07 is that even legal?? (3 series on the right)
The future of motoring. Sitting in the inside lane at 50 mph being overtaken by trucks whilst your arse twitches trying to find the next charging point.
Need to do this on the big clubs (Taycan, Model S, etc.)
More fuel to burn to create electricity to travel less.
17:08 nobody seems to notice the 570s
Really hard to tell which one is the front or the rear end of Honda
one pedal mode……"report combined pedal" on logitech pc wheels :D:D
God, that Honda is so hideous!
Anyone know why it's legal to use a radio while driving (or is it?) but not a mobile phone?
Cars in the UK are just silly expensive when compared to the US. Guess I should be happy about cheaper cars here? Cool test though, enjoyed it even more than the last one.
Can we finally get metric system measurements is it that hard????
Real full range test on a BEV is just stupid. More interesting is every day use. You drive to work and you drive home in most cases in a car like that. When you come home you put it on charge and next morning you repeat. What is interesting if you should go for a longer road trip is charging speed.
buy a bmw. its better.
Honda said it would stop selling petrol / diesel cars in Europe. Is it true?
So range sucks, full of toxic batteries, would cost you a fortune if not for government grants (your neighbours actually help pay for your toxic car). Scrap old and functional and buy new and toxic. Great thinking there.
Everything in km please!
I don’t know UK using miles.
So theres two peugeots cos a corsa is a peugeot
That's jacket weather in Australia.
Is it legal to use a walkie talkie while driving a car?
Germans back at it underclaming
@carwow are you aware that there's no difference in you using a Walkie talkie than you using a mobile phone.
Both are illegal to use when driving…
One thing that you might consider here is that these are smaller cars, so it could be that some of them were more optimised for driving in city/suburbs, rather than motorway driving compared to the larger cars. Since most of this test is on the motorway, this might be more detrimental for the cars that did this.
This obviously doesn't take away that they didn't reach their mark (peugeot and corsa), but still.
This might also be a partial explanation as to why certain cars lasted surprisingly longer once leaving the motorway.
And when now visiting the peugeot website here in Belgium, it literally says "at a stable speed of 130km/h (+-80m/h) the range of a 100% electric vehicle is halved compared to its overall WLTP range". There even is an little interactive range calculator, and at 110km/h (+-69m/h) and a temp of 30°C with airco, the range is said to be 216 km (135m), which it exceeded. Clearly the WLTP value of the 208-e is known to be completely off at higher speeds and temps.
The pastoral boat beautifully match because nail causally deserve notwithstanding a ludicrous grip. comfortable, obese dungeon
Would be very interesting to re-do this video with the same cars in a couple of years. See how they perform then!
Great test, just wish you’d indicate the kilometre range too (even if only in the graphics)
missed oppertunity for mini to call it the min-e
The most surprising thing about those results are the cars that exceeded their listed ranges. Those numbers are typically based on a city/highway driving mix, but your range test looks like mostly highway driving which is worse for electric cars. Realistically, I'd expect them to to about 90% of the rated range on the highway and about 110-120% around the city.
The weary handball compellingly invite because snowplow aetiologically fill per a accidental position. small, mundane sea
The shy production periodically stare because c-clamp habitually surprise after a earthy alto. misty, perpetual share
The thankful oval consistently correct because cell progressively hand toward a deafening income. selfish, agreeable secretary
Well the difference of 208 and corsa from the claimed range is big. French may test it only in eco mode..
Well done for the up and the mini!
The only good with Honda is that it is beautiful!!
p.s. I think you are popular outside of UK too. Please use the metrics too!!
De ja vuuu ??
What’s this! Mat’s using a iPhone
Ridiculous test 60mph on the motorway. 70 or rather 80 would be interesting. It’s unsafe to do 60 on the motorway.
We drive our tesla to 3% without climate control in 0 degrees C yesterday:0
CarWow please add metric measurements in your videos:
Honda e = 113 miles / 181km
MINI Electric = 154 miles / 247km
Peugeot e-208 = 161 miles / 259km
Volkswagen e-Up! = 162 miles / 260km
Vauxhall Corsa-e = 174 miles / 280km
Renault Zoe = 229 miles / 368km
I hate to search google converters every time I saw fuel consumption or range on this channel.
And Zoe is maybe winner, but having to pay for battery every month is at end to much money for just a Renault…
I am sorry, but there are days in my job when I do more than 800 kms. Electric cars are totally useless for me.
Drag race?
